Nowadays, the incorrect method of making cup lump prevalent in the northeastern region has started to negatively affect the quality of cup lump used in the production of STR rubber, the main material in the production of automotive tires, and is causing various environmental problems. Sri Trang Group has therefore partnered with the Office of the Rubber Replanting Aid Fund (ORRAF) in the province of Udon Thani and the Udon Thani Provincial Agricultural Extension Office to organize the “Quality Cup Lump for the Environment” workshop for rubber farmers. The Vice Governor of the province of Udon Thani presides over the opening ceremony and gives a speech underlining the importance of minimizing environmental effects.

During the workshop, the Vice Governor also demonstrates the correct method of using formic acid in the making of cup lump to rubber farmers.

53 rubber farmers from Amphur Naamsom and Amphur Nayoong participate in this workshop, during which Sri Trang Group shows them the results comparing the qualities of cup lump produced by using sulfuric acid and by using formic acid and illustrating the negative effects that cup lump produced by using sulfuric acid has on the production of automotive tires and encourages them to use formic acid for the safety of the environment as well as of the rubber farmers themselves.
