Sri Trang Group Launches Nationwide Pilot Oil Palm Plantation Initiative In Response to Sustained High Palm Oil Prices

Sri Trang Agro-Industry Public Company Limited (STA) is preparing to launch a nationwide pilot project for oil palm cultivation across several provinces, with the objective of enhancing the value of the company’s existing land bank. The initiative is further supported by positive market trends, as palm oil prices have remained at consistently high levels in recent periods, driving greater investment interest in this agricultural commodity. Current market conditions indicate that oil palm prices continue to hold steady at mid-to-high levels, with an average price exceeding THB 6 per kilogram significantly higher than the same period last year, which averaged approximately THB 5 per kilogram. Although the first half of the year experienced some fluctuations due to seasonal factors and increased market supply, overall pricing has remained robust.

The company will focus on cultivating oil palm in accordance with sustainable practices, including refraining from encroaching on forest areas, employing legally compliant labor, and efficiently managing resources alongside existing rubber plantations in each province to ensure effective cost management. The company expects the planting process to be completed progressively by 2026, with commercial harvesting anticipated to commence from 2029 onward.
